As I have demonstrated in this review, the new Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G VR II works beautifully with the Nikon TC-20E III when stopped down a little, which was a nice surprise. Let’s take a closer look at the teleconverter. NIKON D3S + 300mm f/2.8 @ 600mm, ISO 640, 1/500, f/8.0 Nikon TC-20E III Specifications
Sharpness. On our Canon EOS-20D sub-frame test bed, the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 was a little soft wide open, but quickly improved as we stopped down. At f/4, it's extremely sharp from 70-135mm
In depth. The Tamron SP 70-200mm f2.8 Di VC USD G2 is a 2.9x telephoto full-frame zoom available in mounts for Canon and Nikon DSLRs. Announced in February 2017, it’s the second generation model from Tamron (hence the “G2” moniker) and identified by the A025 code compared to the A009 for the first stabilized version.
This is why I had got the Tamron as I have the Nikon F4 and was wanting to go to 2.8. But the Nikon 70-200 f4 will focus much faster than the Tamron and works for in sharp images at every zoom range. Here is a few photos from the Nikon 70-200 F4 some from it on my Nikon Z6 and some on the D500.
I currently use this lens on a Nikon D300 body. So this review is based on D300 / 24-70mm combo. I own Nikon's pro glasses like 17-35 f2.8, 70-200 f2.8, 17-55 f2.8, 50 f1.4, 12-24 f4, etc
The Nikkor AF 80-200mm f/2.8D ED is one of two high-speed tele zooms in the current Nikon lens lineup. Seems as if Nikon did not discontinue the lens due to the rather steep price tag of the latest variant - the AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8G IF-ED VR (1000€ vs 1900€). Interestingly they kept this rather old design (released 1996) rather than newer
Canon, Nikon. Overall, the 70-200mm is substantially built but not at all overly weighty for a lens of this focal range and speed. The Canon version weighs in at 3.3 pounds (1,500g) is just tips the scales of Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM which weighs 3.28 pounds (1,490g). Nikon shooters will enjoy a .5oz shedding of body fat with their
Lenses like the Canon 85mm f/1.2, the Nikkor 135mm f/2 DC, and for many, myself included, the Nikkor 200mm f/2. It seems a strange lens to be a bit infatuated with because most of us have fast glass even at the 20mm mark, seeing as though almost all of us have a 70-200mm 2.8 in some shape or fashion. The 70-200s in almost all brands are
